When Should You Opt for a Breast Lift Procedure?

Breast lift surgery is not something to be undertaken lightly. There are essentially three reasons to look into the procedure:

1. The breasts are pendulous.
2. The breasts lack the desired firmness.
3. The nipples point downward and/or hang particularly low.

These traits are often inherited, but can be influenced by the aforementioned causes. In any case, while there are no restrictions on when the procedure can be performed, it’s recommended to wait until breast development has completed.

Generally, a breast lift is performed by making incisions along the natural contours of the breasts to define a new, higher location for the nipple and areola. Three incisions are standard, with one being made around the areola, one being made from the areola to the crease under the breast, and the third being made horizontally along the breast crease. The areola may also sometimes be reduced in size.
