CAD Technology Offers More Accurate Breast Reconstruction Results
With the latest advances in medical technology, surgical procedures have become much more precise. When it comes to breast reconstruction — particularly post-op for breast cancer patients — there have not been many advancements in the way procedures are performed, but thanks to a new technology using Computer Aided Design (CAD), doctors can use laser scans to produce more accurate molds of healthy breasts. These molds are then used during a three-phase tissue reconstruction process.
Having more accurate molds yields far greater post-surgical results than have been possible before. Previously, surgeons did everything by touch and feel, but with this new advancement, they now have an actual template of the patient’s breasts to work with. The patients used to test this procedure were highly satisfied with their results — results that were much more natural looking than before.
