Making the decision to get breast augmentation is a big deal. Not only will it change your body, but also it requires you to undergo surgery. Before the procedure, it’s important that you understand how to prepare for breast implants so that you can have a better surgical procedure and a quicker recovery time.
Make arrangements.
You are going to be sore for the first couple days after surgery, so you’ll want to be sure you make arrangements for yourself as well as your family. Find someone to drive you home from the doctor after surgery, as you will not be able to drive a car. You should also have someone stay with you for the first 24 hours after surgery, and if you have children, you should have someone around to take care of them.
Stop smoking.
If you are a smoker, it is extremely important that you stop smoking before and for a few days after your surgery. Smoking can have a negative impact on your health and your immune system, and this can lead to a longer recovery time or even complications during surgery.
Watch your medications.
There are a few medications that simply do not mix with surgery. Your doctor should provide you with a list of these medications, but you can always ask too. Then, make sure you refrain from those medications for a few weeks prior to surgery.
Refrain from exercise.
No matter how much of a gym junkie you may be, it’s extremely important that you refrain from exercise the day before surgery.
Fast.
You will need to fast before surgery. Your doctor will give you specifics as to what time you should start fasting, as this will depend on the time of your surgery. However, keep in mind that they usually require you to fast for 8-12 hours.
Wear loose-fitting clothes.
You are going to be extremely sore after surgery, and you will not want to spend a long time trying to put your clothes back on. This is why it’s very important that you wear loose-fitting clothes to the doctor. If possible, try to wear a shirt that buttons or zippers in the front to make it easier on you.
