Profractional Erbium Laser Skin Treatment

The Profractional Erbium Laser is a quick and moderately comfortable laser procedure with little downtime, used for improving he overall appearance of your skin. Profractional uses laser microbeam energy to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin which are surrounded by areas of healthy, untreated skin. The areas of untreated skin stimulate the body’s natural healing process, and the treated areas stimulate production of new collagen, plumping up the skin and smoothing out wrinkles, lines, scars, and other irregularities.

Profractional can dramatically improve wrinkles, scars, tone, and texture with little to no downtime. The goal of the procedure is removal of damage with the intent of improving vitality of the skin. Deeper treatments yield more significant improvement, but also have more downtime for healing. Profractional may also be combined with a MicrolaserPeel or IPL procedure to further enhance your treatment results.

A pre conditioning skin care program with Retin-A and hydroquinone topical products is a useful adjunct and is strongly recommended before undergoing the Profractional Laser treatment. This will be discussed with you at your initial consultation, by your Esthetician.

Profractional is extremely effective for skin rejuvenation. Patients may discuss goals with their Physician and their Esthetician. Results will vary according to skin type and condition upon starting treatment. A program of home skin care product usage should be undertaken to further any gains made with the treatments. A series of 2-5 treatments at 6-12 week intervals is suggested, followed by maintenance protocol of treatment and home care.

Profractional is offered as an alternative to other methods of non-invasive exfoliation, such as enzymatic, alpha/beta hydroxyl acid or chemical peeling. It is not intended to replace surgery, dermabrasion or ablative laser resurfacing. Surgical intervention may be necessary to treat dermal scarring or tighten loose skin.
