Understanding Breast Implant Profiles

For women interested in breast augmentation, a lot of emphasis is placed on the type and size of the implant they choose. What is not as commonly discussed is profile. There are three different profiles of implants available (low, moderate, and high), and this decision plays a major role in the appearance of the implants.

Profile and Size

Implants come in a variety of different sizes, but the most common is 350cc. The profile of the implant is important because it affects how the implant sits on the chest. A moderate profile implant takes up more space on the chest wall than a high profile implant, but the high profile implant projects more. Depending on the profile best suited for you, you may have to go up or down a size to get your desired look.

What is Profile?

Profile refers to how far the implant will extend beyond the chest wall. Deciding which profile is right for you depends on both the look you wish to achieve and the size of your current breasts as well.

Choosing the Right Profile

There have been significant advancements made in the breast implant field, making it easier for plastic surgeons to figure out which implant profile is best for each individual patient.
