When Is the Right Time to Consider Getting a Mommy Makeover?

The Mommy Makeover is radically changing the lives of women and their families all across the globe. This revolutionary procedure has delivered renewed strength and confidence to millions. Now could be the time to usher in a new spark to your life. At Boulder Plastic Surgery in Boulder, CO, we proudly offer this makeover to our valued clientele.

What Is a Mommy Makeover?

A Mommy Makeover is a collection of surgical procedures that restore the female body after childbirth. Pregnancy is a time of significant change for a woman; her body grows and takes a new shape to accommodate the growing child. Exquisite beauty exists in the female form during pregnancy that, although different, is welcomed during this time.

After giving birth, however, many women struggle with their appearance. Birthing one or more children can alter the body in ways that create ongoing physical discomfort or impact a woman’s self-confidence and self-esteem.

This procedure addresses all the common concerns women have after bearing a child. We can restore and enhance your body to its pre-pregnancy form.

Which Procedures Are Part of a Mommy Makeover?

You are unique, and your post-pregnancy concerns may differ from those of other women. For this reason, we offer the most comprehensive choice of enhancements for you to choose from for your makeover.

During your consultation, we’ll discuss your body goals and find the best ways to achieve them. Below we explore the most common procedures women choose for their makeover.

Breast Augmentation

If the size or shape of your breasts has changed after pregnancy, you may consider adding a breast augmentation procedure to your makeover. We use this saline or silicone implant technique to enlarge the breasts and create a more shapely bust. Some women choose to return to the breast size they had before pregnancy while others opt for larger cup sizes.

Breast Lift

Sagging breasts, expanded areolas, and shifting nipples are among the many changes women experience after pregnancy and breastfeeding. A breast lift or mastopexy is a procedure we perform to recreate natural-looking and youthfully firm breasts.

We may tighten the skin to create a perkier appearance, reduce the size of areolas so they are proportionate to the breasts, or raise the nipples to create balance.

Liposuction

When you’ve lost the body-contouring you once had, liposuction can recreate your shape. Changes to the shape of your body after pregnancy often aren’t caused by extra body weight. If diet and exercise don’t make a difference, stubborn fat pockets could be to blame.

Liposuction, a process for eliminating these hard-to-lose fat deposits, sculpts the body back to ideal proportions. To achieve a renewed you, we may use this procedure for the:

Tummy Tuck

Lingering evidence of your baby bump may include loose skin, excess fat, or less tone in the abdomen. A tummy tuck or abdominoplasty is a procedure to remove extra skin and fat from the abdomen.

This technique can also restore weakened or separated muscles. The result is a slimmer, flatter, and more carved-looking midsection. This procedure pairs well with liposuction to create an elegantly refined abdominal contour.

Vaginal Rejuvenation

Vaginal rejuvenation is an umbrella term for several procedures. Labiaplasty is one of the most requested vaginal rejuvenation procedures. This surgery addresses the size and appearance of the labia.

Having a child can stretch the labia and reduce overall elasticity, which may result in discomfort when wearing specific clothing and engaging in some activities.

The good news is that you don’t have to settle for anything less than your ideal. Whether your concerns are visual, physical, or both, we have a solution for you.

What Are the Benefits?

We’ve designed this specialized procedure to empower women. Motherhood is an achievement to celebrate, but sometimes a different body can feel like punishment.

Every woman has the right to feel beautiful and comfortable in the skin she’s in. If your post-pregnancy body has got you down, the benefits of a Mommy Makeover can help.

Where Will My Makeover Take Place?

Your makeover takes place in our centrally located, state-of-the-art facility near the Community Hospital in Boulder.

How Do I Prepare for a Mommy Makeover?

Preparing for your makeover is a vital step in the process. Taking a proactive role is the best way to ensure the most successful results. We encourage open communication.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you have at any stage of the makeover process. Below we explore the general steps to take when planning your makeover.

Meet for a Consultation

A face-to-face meeting at our office is always the first step in this life-changing journey. We have to get to know you better before you receive any procedure.

During your complimentary consultation, we discuss your aesthetic goals and medical history. Please discuss any medical conditions you have with your doctor. Let your doctor know if any new medical condition presents itself after your consultation.

Quit Smoking

If you’re a smoker, we cannot perform the makeover until you’ve stopped for at least one month. Smoking can complicate surgery and compromise your body’s ability to heal after surgery.

This could lead to improperly healed scarring. Blood vessels and adequate oxygen flow to cells are impaired by smoking, which creates risks not worth taking. Smoking cessation must continue throughout your healing process.

Regulate Medication

At your consultation, please disclose all prescription and over-the-counter medications and supplements you take. Blood thinners come in many forms and must be avoided before surgery to prevent complications.

We’ll provide you with a list of approved medications to assist your surgery and recovery time and inform you of those not to take.

Follow Pre-Operative Instructions

We’ll give you detailed instructions to follow before your procedure. Adhering to these instructions creates more successful outcomes. We may ask you to avoid eating or drinking anything the night before your surgery. Please confirm whether you’ve done this with your surgeon at your appointment.

What Can I Expect After the Procedure?

At Boulder Plastic Surgery, we usually perform our makeover for mothers under light general anesthesia. Typically, we perform a makeover on an outpatient basis, which means you can return home after the procedure. Please arrange transportation to and from your appointment as driving yourself is not an option.

Will I Have Follow-Up Appointments?

Follow-up appointments are vital for ensuring the success of your makeover, and you can expect to have between three and eight follow-up appointments within the first three months.

We’ll schedule a post-operative visit three to five days after your surgery and another seven to ten days later. After the first three months, we’ll schedule you a yearly follow-up appointment.

What’s the Healing Process?

The healing process can vary depending on your body and the procedure you receive. Significant strides and improvements reveal themselves rather quickly.

First Two Weeks

We’d recommend clearing your schedule for two weeks after the procedure. Most patients feel ready to go back to work after 10 to 14 days. Two weeks gives you enough time to relax after surgery. Avoid strenuous exercise and lifting during the first few weeks to maximize your healing.

Week Three

You’ll likely feel ready to resume many daily activities during the third week after your appointment. Low-impact exercise is approved from this point forward.

Week Four to Six

If you’ve received a vaginal rejuvenation procedure, your body may be ready to engage in sexual intercourse and wear tampons again. You may also slowly begin to work yourself up to exercising moderately during and after the sixth week.

Week Eight and Beyond

In the eighth week after your appointment, you can engage in any level of exercise. We’ll discuss all the perks of the eighth week and beyond with you at your consultation.
